  • Warning message upon “save as”

I’ve been trying several times now to do a “save as” of a project and I get this message. Besides that, the saved as file does not even include the veg file! What’s going on and why would a save as destroy a file??. Anyone know?

It looks like you are trying to do a Save As with the “Copy Media” option into a folder that has existing media. This will cause all sorts of conflicts and should be avoided (if it’s what you are doing). The Copy Media option should only be used when pointing to a completely empty folder and then only used once (since it will no longer be empty after you do this the first time).

I’m aware of the copying to an already existing directory as that has really messed me up before. Three times I’ve saved as to a 3 clean directories and the same thing occurs.
I did rename some files that were in the project with () signs but they were in the original project that I edited from. Could that be messing things up?

It does seem like renaming might be the cause. What I would do is rename them using the Vegas Project Media window. This way they get renamed on the filesystem and in the Vegas project at the same time. Then try and save as with copy media to a new folder again.

Also, clean up the project media by removing unused media (click on the lightning bolt).
