  • Want to make a subtle shine effect on a word

I would like to have an effect on a title in After effects where a quick light reflection goes over a word. Something similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-FQuXcMyj8&feature=related

However, I would like the effect to be a bit more subtle, as though the light shone from a distance off camera and the words that were already properly lit caught a bit of it.

Is this possible and if so how?

Thank you for all advice and suggestions.

There’s a CC plugin but the name I don’t recall at the moment. And my AE machine is not with me. I’m going to guess CC light sweep, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, it gives you a nice little bit of light that runs across the text.
Although, you can fake it pretty easily. Make a white solid, put a long and thin mask on it, feather the mask, rotate the layer and move it to one side of the logo, animate it across the logo.
Then duplicate your logo layer and use it as a track matte for the solid layer.
Experiment with different blending modes and opacity levels for the solid and voila.

Thank you for the suggestion. I also got a similar idea for my effect with this tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fCuoXg7YwI

However, I will keep yours in mind for a second version of the logo.

    Thanks a lot.
