Want to confirm which is the best approach for VOB files (deadline looming)
I am pulling clips from a large number of DVDs per client’s list of timecodes. Client would like the raw – no editing – pulled clips burned to another DVD for viewing/storage. The workflow so far has been:
1) drag Video_TS file from my hard drive to mpeg streamclip
2) repair timecode breaks
3) Cmd-s to save (not transcode) the mpeg clips.
4) (haven’t done this yet) Burn the clips to a DVD in Toast. Is there anything else I should be doing that would require bringing them into Premiere? Or is this the best approach? Can someone confirm?
There is an mpeg streamclip tutorial linked to everywhere by Nick Holmes but unfortunately, the pictures are gone and you cannot see the settings. Also, two considerations:
1) there is a possibility I may also end up transcoding them to mp4 in an extra step
2) have not confirmed this yet, but I don’t think Toast offers the ability to put chapter markers between mpeg2 files, and client has indicated that isn’t important, but it would be nice to be able to go the extra mile and give it anyway. So that might be one reason for working with it in premiere and doing it in encore. Not a major need though in this case.I’d prefer to keep this as simple as possible. Have about 300 more clips waiting to do so I wanted to get in here and confirm the workflow is correct first. Also, on a deadline so I appreciate any responses.
Thank you
