Walter, after our last discussion about the difference between the Wacom Graphire and Intuos tablest, I tried two side by side with your points in mind.

I hadn’t noticed the differences initially, but you are indeed correct that the Intuos has a softer feel with much better precision. The pen range (how far you can hover above the surface) seems better too, which adds to the precision. I’m not crazy about the scroll slider, but maybe that just takes some driver tweaking and/or getting used to. I like the wheel on the Graphire.

The pen is definitely nicer to hold.

Still wish they came a different colour, other than the graphite, but you can’t have everything I guess. Also wish there was an integrated spot to store the pen to make it easier to pack up and take to different workstations.

The Graphire is still great for the price, no doubt, but I just wanted to make mention of these differences in case anyone is shopping around for one of these.

The Wacom tablets are definitely one of those things that “you get what you pay for.” The Graphire toolset is very nice and works for a lot of people. But if you use it all day, every day like me, the Intuos series definitely is worth the extra money.

Glad you had a chance to test them side by side and report back on the differences.

Yep, I can see that now. The first time I used the Intuos, I wasn’t quite used to it yet. But after using the Graphire (and getting used to navigating with the pen), going back to the Intuos felt very nice.

And, of course, the driver is so much better.

Thanks for helping me see the light…;O)
