Wall/Paint peel effect
Hey there everybody,
So I’m working on a music video, and I’ve already done one effect where the wall chips away to reveal the lyrics to that part of the song. I want to do another similar effect but this time I want paint to peel off of the side of a bridge. I’ve begun to mess around with the shatter effect in After Effects but I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to get that bend as the paint peels off with Shatter. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how I should go about this, maybe another effect or preset that’s in After Effects.
Also I’m sort of familiar with Cinema 4D if 3D is the only way you guys think I can pull this off, but I’d rather try to keep it in After Effects. Thanks a lot, any questions let me know.

Free Form (comes with CS5) can do 3d distortion. You can easily animate a layer that has the side of the bridge (or strips of paint or whatever)using the distortion controls.
