Walking Annimation
Posted by Bob Salpeter on May 10, 2005 at 6:00 pmI’m a new After Effects user and can’t get my characters to look like they’re walking and not ice skating. Any tips?

May 10, 2005 at 8:50 pmI copied this out of textbook.

It shows the different movements of the different parts of the legs.
I usually make a femur layer, a tibia layer and a foot layer.
I then put the axis of rotation at the end closer to the body.
Remember, we bob up and down a little when we walk.

May 11, 2005 at 2:00 amGe a copy (buy, library) of “The Animator’s Survival Kit” by Richard WIlliams. It has lots of walk cycles broken down into 8’s and 16’s I believe. Using that and Dan Ebberts “Animating a Walk Cycle”,
https://www.creativecow.net/show.php?forumid=2&page=/articles/ebberts_dan/layer_looping/index.html
I was able to make an animation on video (Bigfoot chasing a little kid, eek!).
Lots of cool walk cycles there, sneak cycles, sexy walk cycle, etc.
Thaaaaats All, Folks.
