It’ll be a long, long wait.
Just sat on a panel for the standardization of EU 3D. It’s not going anywhere.

So are they really coming out with 3D monitors and screens where you do not need glasses? Or does one still need special glasses?

I saw a 3D display a year ago at NAB 2008 that didn’t need glasses. I assume they are even better now (I didn’t make it there this year). It reminded me of the Lenticular technology but it did look very good when you stood directly in front of it.

Personally, Avatar gave me a headache and given the chance to see another move in 3D (I forget which) my kids opted to go to a theatre that only had it in 2D. I appreciate that 3D is popular but they need to remove the headache factor before I’ll go sit through another one.

    Hi Guys,

I went to NAB and saw DSE there among others and everywhere you turn, someone had 3D glasses on. Go to Best Buy, they have 3D tv’s, but you also have to buy the player. You get 2 glasses with the package when you buy the TV. Eack additional pair of glasses cost around $150 each. Too much for me.
