Wacom Bamboo-zled
Posted by Tim Young on August 12, 2010 at 10:11 amHi, i am trying to get my Wacom Bamboo tablet to work with the Avid, but it is not playing ball.
it works for a while and then every so often it has a fit and stops working completely and I have to sit and wait for the computer to stop playing a sequence (for example) in its own sweet time.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the correct driver that I should be using?
Wacom Bamboo tablet (Model MTE-450)
Wacom driver cons511-1_int
Avid MC 3.5.4
HP xw8400 workstation running Windows XP Pro Version 2002 Service Pack 2
2GB RAMTIA

August 13, 2010 at 12:18 pmThe following fix is for MC5 and Intuos tablets, but it might be worth a shot.
Open the Device Manager
Open Human Interface Devices
Disable “Wacom virtual HID driver”This function allows for hand writing recognition in MS Word – it’s not needed for Media Composer.
There are a several Wacom threads on the Avid forums, however most of them are about the Intuos tablets.

August 14, 2010 at 6:11 pmThere is an older version of Wacom drivers that doesn’t cause that this in Avids but the newer drivers suck.

August 18, 2010 at 11:28 pmI’ve had problems with the Bamboo tablet also. A year or so ago I’d play the timeline I couldn’t stop it. I had to relaunch Media Composer. Then with an upgraded software it sort of worked but I had trouble with things like title tool so I gave up. Any new news?

August 22, 2010 at 12:10 pmBelow is the response I got from Wacom. I haven’t tried it yet as we were up against a deadline, but I’m going to try just disabling the “Wacom Virtual HID” with the version of the driver that I have at the moment, before I go through all the deleting of files that they are suggesting!
1- please remove your tablet driver and download the latest one available at:
https://www.wacom-europe.com/index2.asp?lang=en&pid=29a.) Reset the preference files in the wacom/pen tablet folder.
Go to Start=>Programs=>Wacom/Pen Tablet=>Preference File Utility
Now delete ALL.b.) Please uninstall all drivers again. Go to Control Panel=>Add or Remove Programs
Now remove the Pen Tablet / Wacom Tablet. After a restart go to the search engine and look for the
files
tablet*.*
wacom*.*
pentab*.*
wintab*.*
Pen_Tablet.exe
Pen_Tablet.dll
Pen_TabletUser.exe
PenTablet.cpl
PenTablet.znc
Touch_Tablet.dll
Wintab32.dll
WTouchAPI.dll
WTouchCPL.exe
WTouchService.exe
WTouchUser.exeand delete them.
As well delete the folders TABLET and WTABLET.
Please make sure, that you have hidden files included to the search.
Look in the System32 folder if the wintab*.* is deletedIn Vista64 there is a Wintab*.* in SYSTEM32 and in SYSWOW64.
2- You can now download the latest driver from: https://www.wacom.eu/index2.asp?lang=fr&pid=29&gm=4
Be sure to deactivate your antivirus before installing the tablet driver.3- Then go to Windows device manager and disable the ‘Wacom Virtual HID’ device, and restart you computer.
