VTAPE to LTO

“The files will transfer to VTAPE, but they no long write to LTO automatically.”

We also have had the same issue. Our problem is with Cache-A not CatDV. Cache-A stopped automatically syncing to the LTO a long time ago.

Now, we load the LTO, set up the VTAPE, eject the LTO, reinsert the LTO and manually Sync. It is very manual, but frankly it is more reliable.

We talked to Cache-A support several times about this issue, but they could not identify the problem without a paid support intervention. Since they could not really identify what the problem was, we chose pursue a work around.

I would make sure that the files on your VTAPE are actually on your LTO before moving on to another tape. The tape info is a good way to be sure that the tape has actually been written to.

That’s annoying! It was a PAIN to set up in the beginning, but finally had it working well… until I upgraded CatDV to version 10.

And now files won’t archive at all “Can’t Archive Media Files…”

One thing you might check:

After periods of inactivity, sometimes Cache-A disappears from our mounted devices list on the network. I’m guessing it goes to sleep or the server decides to ignore it. Going to the web interface and getting the unit to do something usually brings it back.

I would make sure that the Cache-A is showing up on the Finder and see if it has any relationship to the error.
