OK, I guess I’m behind the times. But I do keep up with so many suffixes. I must not be enough of a Vegas poweruser. What is a .vst plugin? (I did a quick web search and came up with a lot of plugins but not an explanation.)

They are simply audio plugins. VST is the name given to the means in which the program accesses them. The built-in audio effects in Vegas are DirectX.

VST plugins are audio fx written in Virtual Studio Technology format. Vegas added VST support in version 6.

    “What is a .vst plugin?”

    From the Wikipedia site:
Virtual Studio Technology and its acronym VST refer to an interface standard for connecting audio synthesizer and effect plugins to audio editors and hard-disk recording systems. VST and similar technologies allow the replacement of traditional recording studio hardware with software counterparts.

Voxengo, Digital Fish Phones and Kjaerhus Audio are more sites that have free VST plugins.

Thank you, gentlemen. It’s nice to see — again — that it’s safe to display one’s lack of knowledge on this forum.
