  • VP11 Rendering to mov – or not?

Posted by Phil Seymour on March 12, 2012 at 10:25 am

Just finished first project in VP11, and one client wanted the prrof in mov format. I selected the appropriate setting in “Render As” and in a twinkling of an eye Vegas said it had been done. Of course it fibbed, and only a 1k .sfl was in the rendered folder.

    Any thoughts?

Render to MainConcept AVC to create an MP4 file. Then rename the MP4 to MOV and send it to your client. In fact, you can send the MP4 to your client. Every Mac can open MP4 files without a problem.

Thanks John. A good work around, although one still wonders why the render failure.

Sorry I didn’t mean to imply that we couldn’t work on your render problem. I just wanted to give you a way to make it work for your customer.

So what render template did you use?

What version of QuickTime to you have installed?

No, I didn’t think that John… I was just happy for the work-around anyway.
The Quicktime is 7.7.1. Rendering template was Quicktime 7 mov, 512Kbs

Hmmm… I’m using QuickTime 7.7.1 too and I have no problems rendering. Try changing the codec from Sorenson Video 3 to something else and see if that works.
