    Dear gods,

I am just doing my first steps on integrating a 3D Layer (put a sign on a wall) in a 2D shot while the camera moves.

While searching around I found a so far free Camera Tracker called ‘voodoo camera tracker’, for details look at https://www.digilab.uni-hannover.de/docs/manual.html .

The previews look very promising and finally work also with free camera shots and not only shots filmed with a tripod.

But unfortunatly I am not shure, how to export/import the Cameradata in the right way to import it afterwards in AE.

So far I exported the Cameradata as *.ma (maya) and was succsessfully able to import the data as a comp.

But if I tried to place a object in AE 3D space, it behaved really strange and I was not really able to integrate the object at all …

Maybe someone can point me to a tutorial or something, where to find more about the come together of voodoo and AE.

    Thanks anyway.

Seems that no one uses this 3D tracker .. what a pitty … if i get some trail and error results, I will post them … maybe it helps to promote the cute free program …

    So long …

    Wim,

If you can bring this into 3ds MAX, our MAX2AE product (www.boomerlabs.com) will let you bring camera/layer motion information into AE. Not sure if this is exactly what you’re looking for though.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the reply – unfortunatly I am trying to get this dedicated combination (voodoo and AE) to work directly together, unfortunatly I do not own 3ds max … as you can read, I am not very used to 3D Apps in general … only having the 2.5D experience …

    Wim,

I discovered Voodoo not too long ago and found the same. On the voodoo forums, I’ve been collaborating with a max user to verify voodoo is working properly, but the same track exported to maya is not working with AE. I don’t think AE is causing the problem because I’ve read others using boujou or syntheyes to export mayascript into AE successfully. I believe its the way voodoo is exporting maya script. Let’s hit the voodoo forums, shall we? Getting the free voodoo to work with AE would be a great boon to the AE community.

Thanks for the reply, having the voodoo work with AE would be brilliant.

Less cost effective than boujou and friends … lets give it a try and hit it!
