  • Voiceover tool not working with AJA Io

I can’t seem to get the VO tool to work since installing the AJA Io BOB. With the VO tool open, I select Pro Io as the source and it says that it is in use by another program and reverts back to default setting. After that I close the VO tool, and I lose audio playback entirely. the only way to get it back is to quit FCP and reopen it. Anyone know what is oging on?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Unfortunately, if the AJA is engaged by FCP you can’t also use it for the VO tool. You have to use another audio input device. If you have any other core audio compliant card or box, you can use that. I had a digital i/o device with optical in and out and was able to plug that to my G5s digital i/o and use it. I’ve seen other posts that suggest using a DAT or CD or DVD recorder that have optical outs as the interface.

Send your mixer’s out to the DAT (or whatever) in and take the DAT optical out to the G5. Then select built-in digital as your input in the VO Tool.

Of course, you could buy an inexpensive core audio compliant M-box, Edirol or other interface box that will do the same thing. I’d suggest one that has a USB interface and not firewire, since the firewire might conflict with the AJA (which also uses firewire). Once installed you’d see that box appear in your i/o choices in the VO Tool.

    Check the Io control panel,
it may be that you are asking it to do something different than it is set to be doing in the driver (like wrong input passthru)
