Voice with underlying music
It looks like Adobe quit on Soundbooth CS5 just a few days after I bought it.
I am working on an audio file which has spoken instructions with music playing in the background. Does Soundbooth have a feature where the the level of the underlying music is automatically dropped while the voice channel is active? If not, how about Audition CS5.5?
On a more general basis, is it worth spending the $99 to upgrade from Soundbooth to Audition?

Soundbooth is an entry-level audio production tool ideal for novices and suitable for most basic projects. Audition is a powerful professional tool for audio specialists which is used both in radio and television production.
Here’s some background on Audition….
It was developed in the early nineties by Syntrillium Software under the name ‘Cool Edit’. It was purchased by Adobe, enhanced, and re-released as ‘Audition’ in 2003. Over the years Adobe have transformed it from a basic consumer application to the respected high end product that it is today. The latest Mac compatible Audition 4 (CS5.5) is finally on a level with products which were previously considered superior such as Avid’s Pro Tools, Prism Media’s SADiE, and Steinberg’s Nuendo. -
Here is an answer that might help.
You are looking for a ducker, something like a compressor that has a sidechain input that senses when the VO is active and then lowers the volume. I do not have audition so you will have to look for that.
Look up sidechain compressor

Nope no ducker in Audition. That is a cryin’ shame too. That is a must have for ANY video/audio software. Garageband has one that works. Maybe a VST plug in would work.
