Voice Popping Voice from Recording
Posted by Debbie King on January 14, 2014 at 4:27 amHello Everyone:
I just recorded a V/O to test my mic and didn’t use a pop filter. I ordered one. I really like what I recorded and would like to keep it. I used Audacity to get some of it out, but it’s still there. Any suggestion? I tried to use the Noise Gate in Sony, but it didn’t really help.
Many thanks,
Debbie

January 14, 2014 at 6:05 amGRAZIE thank you so much. I used your Neat Video suggestion on that clip you worked on for me. The one with the purple spots. Not sure if you remember.
Here’s the trailer that I used the clip in. (It’s the clip with the guy and girl outside in front of the house near the end of the trailer)
I got most of it out, but again, like you said, it was tough.

Thank you. I will try your suggestion.

January 14, 2014 at 7:31 amHi Grazie:
I found it where I can download it for free to use for 10 days. I’m just a 1/3 into editing the film and may run across more issues like this. I figured that I can download it and fix all of the problems while I’m on free trial. It’s all premature right now.
Many special thanks for the offer.

January 14, 2014 at 1:12 pmActually, Vegas Pro has a pretty good tool for this built-in. Try the Multi-band Dynamics filter with the [Sys] Reduce plosives and sibilants setting. If you just have plosives use the [Sys] Reduce loud plosives setting.
Not to take anything away from iZotope’s fine product which I use all the time but I just wanted to document this for others who may read the thread in the future and not have iZotope RX.

January 15, 2014 at 3:05 pmThanks Steve.
John, I’m still a novice on Sony, but I tried the Multi-Band first and the popping still existed. I wasn’t really sure what I was moving around in that filter. LOL I’ll recheck that setting, and try playing around with it again.
Many thanks.

January 15, 2014 at 4:19 pmlol, At the top of the Multi-Band Dynamics filter Debbie, there
are presets that will start you in the right direction.
There is a Reduce loud plosives preset there for you to start with.Steve Rhoden
