  • Voice-Over — how to match Mic differences?

I need to do a voice-over on my original video recording to correct information presented. Unfortunately the Mic I used for voice-over is a high end R0DE and the mic used for recording is a cheap Sony stereo mic.

I was wondering if there are some audio FX I can apply to match up the “tone/sound” of the R0DE voice-over with the Sony stereo mic?

    Cheers, Rob.

    1. record both both mics with pink noise at the angle they were originally recorded, then use an audio program to visually compare the frequency response.

you may have to match the reverb or remove reverb.

the cheaper mic will probably have some self-noise, so you can remove it or layer room tone.

    2. izotope rx match

    Hi Chris,

I ended up using Reverb, Noise, and EQ to get “close” … izotope rx (Dialog Match) would probably make it perfect, but it’s outside my current budget at $999.

    Cheers, Rob.
