Voice Over files. Where are they stored? mine are offline.
hello,
i used the voice over tool with fcp version 6.0.2 for foley recording. all was set up fine in the timeline along with my media audio room tones and other bits of audio. i brought the entire project over via the external drive it is all on including the source files to a friends house to view for a day. he is running the latest version of fcp. when i arrived home and opened the file (or any of the previous incarnations of the file as earlier saves) much of the material including some of the video was offline. i reconnected the video and audio as all that source material is still there but the voice over files i cant find. i have no idea actually where final cut keeps those voice overs. they are all automatically listed in sequence with numbers like 121239. anyone know if they can be tracked down? are they stored somewhere outside of fcp? – say somewhere on my mac library or something.

VO goes to your project’s Capture Scratch directory.

VO’s go to the Capture Scratch.
I’m thinking that got reset to the internal drive of the Mac you were using when you recorded the audio. If you go back to that computer, look at the internal drive and see if you find a wayward Capture Scratch Folder and then inside of that, you’ll find your VO’s.
In the future, when you want to transfer a project to another drive, just use Media Manager. Use the Copy Command and point it to the external drive. This will create a new project with all of your media moved over, no matter where you captured it to originally.

I’m also having trouble finding my VO. When i enter FCP a “OFFLINE FILE” appears and asks me if i would like to reconnect so i hit the RECONNECT button. I recorded the the VO in FCP under the name VO 4 and VO 7. I’ve searched my hard drive for “Capture scratch” and my projects are listed except this particular one. Do you have any suggestions?
