  • Voice Over Feature in FCP

    Hi There,

I have a G5 and FCP 5, and am using Voice over feature for the first time. I am using a crappy little microphone temporarily, but nevertheless, it should still work, i would assume. It allows me to record the voice over, however, when i have finished and the file is placed on the timeline, I can’t hear anything. I have noticed that the Sound Level meter doesn’t appear to be moving. Any suggestions on what I can do?

    cheers

How do you have the mic connected to the Mac?

What input settings to the VO tool do you have in FCP?

make sure that you’re changing to the correct source and input…
in the VO Tool window just under the Level meter you’ll see a popup menu item labelled “Source” and under that, one labelled “Input”, make sure you adjust those so that your source and input are both pointing to your mic

I do my VOs via my playback deck. With the mike connected to the camera, FCP set to “uncontrollable device” and Capture Now. Set your capure setting to audio only if you wish.
