So I have a client giving me video with music married to the voice track. Raw footage is allegedly unavailable. We need to recut, but that of course will cause horrible jumps in the music.

Is there software available to remove music and leave the voice? I seem to recall this being possible when stripping instrumental backing tracks from vocals. It wasn’t perfect but worked pretty well.

Hello Chip and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

Voice removal (as in sung vocals) from a mixed music track was sometimes possible depending on how many effects were put on the vocal and how it was panned, but the music had to be stereo to start with and had to end up in mono.

    bottom line, probably not.
