  VITC question

  I’ve just been cloning a Digi-beta which originated from an HDCAM 23.98 master recorded elsewhere. The Digi’s frame VITC jumps from :27 through to :04. I am aware that this is because of the 23.98 on the master it was originally down converted from and I’m assuming TC was set to Ext/Regen on the Digi recorder. If the LTC is consistent (Which it is) would they have used a convertor or does LTC generate itself correctly when in Ext mode. And if so can this be done with the VITC or should they have not recorded VITC when they did the original Digi down convert?

  I think I’m understanding this properly but I like to be certain when i tell a client or another dub house they’re incorrect.
