  • Viewport safe/title/tinted border settings in R18

Getting back into C4d after a few years and I’m stumped. I’m using C4D Lite at work in AE but can also work in C4d R18.

I seem to only see the ‘tinted border’ in Options/Configure while in Perspective view. All other views make it disappear. The action and title safe boxes are sometimes grayed out and non-checked so I’m trying to get them as well.

I had set up a plane at the render dimensions of 1920 x 1080 in the front view and pushed back on Z because I’m used to seeing my guide lines/edges in AE/Premier/Photoshop. We have 4K cameras and are shooting on Sony so the aspect ratio is a little different from 16:10, thus I want to see edge guides of the render at 1920 x 1080.

Since I’m doing something that will stay in the Front camera view, I wanted to use the tinted borders to mark the top/bottom at least.

Is there a way to demarcate a space of 1920 x 1080 with guides/borders/grid instead of using a piece of geometry?

    Thanks so much-
    Kelly

if you use a camera object not the default one, and enable the safe zones you will lose them if you use the shortcut keys for View (F2, F3, F4) but if you are in Perspective (F1) and change the view from the Viewport/Cameras menu they stay. So avoid F2-4 and use the menus to change the viewport.
