  • Viewing EX1 clips in Explorer inside Vegas Pro

    G’day folks,

I have (in the past) been converting my EX1r video clips into mxf format for editing, but I believe that this is now unnecessary as the latest versions of Vegas handle the native EX1r file format just fine. (I have Vegas Pro 9 and 11.)

The issue I face (and I’m sure it’s due to my ignorance) is that when I look for my EX1 clips in Explorer, I can only access each clip from an individual folder. IE: When I open Explorer, I have: Computer > Drive > Archive folder > sxs folder (with title eg: 20110624123456) > BPAV > CLIP…and then however many clips are on ‘that particular’ sxs card – each in its own folder. So I have to open each folder independently to access each separate clip – a hell of a schlep…if you know what I mean.

On the other hand, when I transfer the same clips from the same sxs card to mxf files, I get a single folder within which all the clips are included – easy to preview and access within Vegas.

Could this be a problem I’m causing when I backup the clips using Clip Browser, or am I just missing something within Vegas itself?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
    Bruce

What I do is in Windows explorer make a search for *.mp4 (positioned on the BPAV folder). Now I have all the mp4 data files in one window that I can just drag & drop into the Vegas timeline.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Enrique,
I’ll try what you suggest. I still think it should be more “user friendly”.
    Appreciate your input.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

    Enrique, you’re a bloody genious!

Thank you so much for making my life that much easier. I search the BPAV file as you suggested and simply drag the files into my Project Media bin. What a pleasure!

    Cheers,
    Bruce
