  • Viewing 24P footage on LCD NTSC Monitor

Hi, I am trying to do color correction and I would like to view my footage on my Samsung LCD TV. I bought a Canopus ADVC110 digital/analog converter but that only outputs footage at 29.97. I copied and pasted my footage to a new sequence at 29.97 and I can view the material but what is the point of 24P if you have to work at 29.97. I also tried hooking up my Panasonic AG-DV2500P VTR to the monitor (DV in from G5; SVideo out to monitor) but I cannot view the footage continuously. It only shows clips when the playhead stops. I read the manual and fiddled with the menus to no luck. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can view 24P footage on my NTSC monitor to color correct. Thanks.

Check out the section of the manual on pulldown insertion (p. 1443 in the online help). It’ll keep your footage in 24p, but add a pulldown pattern on playback so you can review it on an NTSC monitor.

I’d be wary about doing color correction on your LCD, though. A good CRT monitor that you can calibrate will be much more accurate.
