I am doing a 23.98 project with 23.98 footage and sequence. However, when I view the timecode in the viewer it displays 30 frames a second (:00-:29). It is also the same in my canvas overlay. If I look at in the “Vid Rate” column in the bin is lists the footage as 23.98. Even the data rate is lower than 29.97 footage using the same compression.

Is this anything to be concerned with or just an oversight in FCP?

    Thanks,
    Bear

After researching the issue further I found that if I control click on the timecode window in the viewer and switching from “source time” to “clip time” the window displays 24 frames per second. However the timecode overlay in the canvas still reads 30 frames per second. As an aside I should point out that when I say 24 and 30 frames per second I am really saying 23.98 and 29.97 respectively.

    Thanks,
    Bear
