Viewer functionality changed in 6.0.4
I’m not sure if this was intended (stupidly in my view) or is a bug. If you double click a clip in the timeline and open it into the viewer and use the up and own arrows to move between clips, the viewer acts as if it’s in open playhead sync, automatically loading the clip into the viewer. This is great for color correction, dreadful for pretty much anything else.

Feels like a bug to me… if you move the playhead in the Timeline window just after you’ve double clicked a sequence clip, the behavior quits…

Of the list of interesting fixes (snapping, for one—sheesh, who’s brilliant idea was THAT?), I suppose a few new bugs are allowed.
Still, one has to wonder how this kind of bonehead stuff gets through Apple’s QC at this point in the applications’ history.bogiesan

My apologies Bogiesan. This behavior has been there some time and is designed into the application. It is not new as I first thought when it happened to be me recently. Many people find this function very useful. There has been some discussion about whether this behavior should be there and how useful it is, but it’s not a bug by any means. I think the dropping of the up/down arrow keys when you do something in the timeline has also been there as well and hasn’t changed. Not sure about that, perhaps Jerry has looked at this more closely.

To my understanding this particular functionality was introduced in 2001 with FCP 3. 🙂
