VideoCopilot Earth Zoom question

Hi
I was following Andrew Kramer’s Earth Zoom tutorial. I was wondering where he got the amazing high quality images. I have tried local.live.com in my area (Britain) and they are good quality but as you zoom out the images suddenly change and you can’t make any detail out. Same with GOogle Earth 4.2.

Where can I get good images from?

They are ok but alot of the images are very random. IS there not site that is like local.live but is consistant in the colours and detail?
