  • Video won’t show through titles.

I am attempting to add lyrics to a music video in Premiere Pro CS6 for MAC. When I add a title there is a black background that covers up the video so that it doesn’t show through and all that is left is a black screen with the white title. I made sure that there was no background enabled in the titler yet it still shows up. I’ve looked all over and no one seems to have had this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I know you said the background was not enabled, but do you have a black fill applied to the title? When you are making a title click the button in the top right hand corner (above the timecode indicator) to show your background video. You should then be able to see your underlying video with the title overlay in the title creation window.

The problem is that the title looks correct in the title editor but when applied to the project it is black

So in the title editor you can see your background video? If so and it is appearing in the timeline with a black background you will need to troubleshoot a little further because there could be a clip setting that is not allowing for the alpha channel in the title editor as this is certainly not a normal result.

Create a new sequence and place a solid color (other than black or white) clip in the timeline and then create a title and place it in the timeline over the solid clip. Do you see the same result?

I am having a similar problem with the titler. I have background unchecked and I have show video selected. No video shows through, I can see my text but it is on a black background. I can scrub the timecode, but i do not get video.

I had a similar problem with a nested sequence which had reversed speed applied. Once I moved the reversed speed directly into the nested sequence the problem disappeared. Since I had a Warp Stabiliser applied as well I had to double-nest. You can find your way around the bug. All Ok, darkness’s gone.
