July 27, 2023 at 5:08 amI haven’t rendered as .MOV in Vegas for a good while, but I believe you have to apply Levels with the Computer RGB to Studio RGB preset to the whole project.
To add an effect to the whole project click on the fx icon left of the video preview quality selection (top left of Video Preview tab).

July 27, 2023 at 6:33 pmThanks I figured that out from another question on the board, but I was just wondering why the media player plays it way darker. I guess it’s adding its own levels to the file.

July 27, 2023 at 11:47 pmThis isn’t necessarily because of the media player, this is because of the file format.
As you mentioned yourself – when you render in mp4 it’s the same. There likely is a simple answer to this question, but it’s probably filled with technicalities that might even be unnecessary by today’s standards. At a surface level there are file formats that do use the full range of 0-255 and others that don’t. If the output file differs from your preview – the format simply by default has different values and calculations for Levels compared to your project.
