I’m looking for a (freeware) calculator who can give me an indication of filesize if I export an AE project (any size) to swf. I did a search here on the Cow but nothing turned up. Anyone?

It’s very unlikely that such a tool could even exist. SWF export uses JPEG compression for effects that cannot be output to vector data and due to the algorithm it’s near impossible to predict data size for any given frame – it all depends on what’s visible. You could have a large solid color background or sky in one frame that compresses very well and in another frame lots of fine detail that won’t compress as much.

Thanx Mylenium, I knew it could never be accurate but a rough estimate would be nice. I was asked to give a quote and a rough indication on size of a simple animation, around 5,5 mins @ 640×480 downloadable from a website. I advised to a least make it a stream but since the huge size a swf would be nice. I’m still waiting for the clients details so I can’t tell you more.
