    Hi,

Using After Effects for a few years now often my workflow is as follows:

    – make some raw elements in AE and export them
    – time animation in premiere and export
    – import timed footage in AE
    – build final, timed scene(s) in AE

When I try this in C4D, I get stuck

reason: it’s almost impossible to work with video-files
when I make a simple texture of it (something like 512×288, placed on a foreground object) the I lose allmost all responsiveness. It’s not workable at all..

    Is this normal?

should I buy a faster machine (working on a core 2 duo desktop, simple video card)?

any tips on an alternative for the abovementioned worklow?

    thanks in advance!!

    Regards,

    Johan

Hmm, it shouldn’t be that slow, but a faster machine would help. Short of that, my suggestion would be to use uncompressed .tiff sequences instead of .mov files in Cinema. Movie files slow the editor display down because Cinema has to decompress every frame on the fly.
