    Hi everyone,

I have been asked to sent 2 video commercials for TV-broadcasting.It is my first time that i have to export video for TV-Broadcasting, and i get a little bit confused.
I will be more than grateful if i could get some help from this community. (Im new here).

    Their requirements are as follow:

1)PAL 720×576 FHA Dv25 Self contained Quicktime File.

2)must be supplied with an aspect 16:9 FHA

Camera used: Sony NX5E, Recording settings: 1080/25p.
    Editing Program: Final Cut Pro.

Can i please ask for a more detailed procedure in FCP in order to do this? It seems i cant find the right way.

    Thank you and regards,

    Rafael,

I would make the spot in the dimensions you filmed in and then make an SD sequence and cut it in to that.

The settings for the SD sequence should be:
    Frame size 720 x 576 (CCIR601)
Pixel aspect ratio PAL-CCIR601 with the Anamorphic 16:9 flag ticked
    Field dominance lower
    Editing Timebase 25
Compressor type DV-PAL quality 100% / scan mode interlaced / aspect ratio 16:9
    Audio 48k 16bit

The FCP scopes are just about ok for determining safe vision levels, audio must strictly adhere to not exceeding PPM6 (assuming you’re in Europe, which I’m guessing from the PAL requirement) but you’ll need to check with the broadcaster which safe title area you have to conform with (16:9 safe, 14:9 safe or 4:3 safe).

    Goodmorning Andrew,

Thank you so much for your reply and your great help!
    I really appreciate it.

Yes i am in Europe, i have to check which safe area with them. As for the Audio here’s what they want:

    – Compressed Audio must peak no higher than 4 when measured on a Type II PPM
    – Uncompressed Audio must peak no higher than 5 when measured on a Type II PPM.

The thing here is, when i film the content, my audio device is: SONY Electret Condenser Microphone ECM-77B,
so that means i have to make sure my audio levels within camera monitor do not exceed 5? Or am i doing something wrong?

    Best Regards,

    Rafael

    Thank you Andrew,

I have prepared the Sd sequence as you suggest:

    Frame size 720 x 576 (CCIR601) / (DV PAl 5:4)
Pixel aspect ratio PAL-CCIR601 with the Anamorphic 16:9 flag ticked
    Field dominance lower
    Editing Timebase 25
Compressor type DV-PAL quality 100% / scan mode interlaced / aspect ratio 16:9
    Audio 48k 16bit.

So now we are ready to export the PAL 720 x 576 FHA DV25 Self Contained Quicktime File as their request.

And in FCP assume we will go for “Using Quicktime conversion”.. (correct?) even though self contain button is found on “Quicktime movie”.

    Here i go for :

    1. Format: Quicktime Movie
    2. options:

    Settings: Compression: DV-PAL
    Filter: /
Size: PAL 720×576 (1024 x 576) with preserve aspect ratio using, and deinterlace source video Unchecked.

    Sound: Linear PCM
    Channels : Stereo (L R)
    rate: 48.000

Prepare for internet streaming: im not sure about this one, to chekc it or not..

    Are the above correct?
Please let me know what you think.

    Best Regards,
