    Hi,

I’m an intermediate AE user looking to spend some more time with this app. I’ve been studying Trish and Chris Meyer’s “Creating Motion Graphics with After Effects” books and I find them incredibly well done. A component of those tutorials was often a generic footage file of some texture (clouds, lights, etc) that would be used just to subtly sweeten the main image.

I followed up with some of the places that sell these (Getty, Artbeats, etc.), and they seem really great, but maybe overkill for me. A small library of 20 clips (maybe 10 are usable) seems to be well upward of $500. At this point I’m not doing this commercially, but want to do a demo reel.

Is there a budget version of these kinds of movies that anyone can recommend?

    Thanks,

    – Justin

    Hi Justin,

Cool. I looked at your previous posts and couldn’t see which one you were referring to. Do you remember any of the recommendations, or are you able to find that old thread by any chance?

Someone recommended DigitalJuice which has some cool stuff. Anything else like that?

If you’re looking for a really low cost alternative, grab your nearest camcorder.

    Hi Justin,

If you don’t need broadcast resolution footage, Artbeats has 320 x 240 clips of all their NTSC/PAL available for $49 each. Perhaps those would work for your projects.
