    Hey people,

I constantly have this problem when I introduce an Adobe AE composition to my edit. Everything will be fine at first, but then I will open my project and lo’ and behold certain sections of my edit will play in fast forward and then the screen will appear black.

I have absolutely no idea why this is happening or how to fix it. I have tried changing Playback Settings but to no avail.

    Does anyone have any clues?

    Thanks very much

Sounds like mixed frame rates are confusing FCP … are your AE renders at the same frame rate as your FCP sequences and footage?

    Dave and David,

    Thank you for your input.

Maybe this info will shed some light on the subject. Here are my sequence settings and clip info.

    SEQUENCE SETTINGS:

    Frame Size: 1440 x 1080
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD 1440×1080
    Field Dominance: Upper (odd)
    Editing Time Base: 29.97

    QUICKTIME VIDEO SETTINGS

    Compressor: XDCAM EX 1080p24(35Mb/s VBR)

    CLIPS INFO

    Most of them are 1920 x 1080 @ 23.98 fps w/ Compressor XDCAM EX 1080p24…
    The others are 1440 x 1080 @ 29.97 fps w/ Compressor HDV 1080i60…

    The AE titles I created are 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 fps w/ Compressor “Animation”

Also, the Pixel Aspect Ratios vary from Square (1920) to HD 1440×1080

    —————–

The strange thing about it is sometimes it plays normally and sometimes it freaks out and I hvae to revert to a saved FCP file to get it back to normal…

How does one avoid these problems when working with footage shot w/ different formats etc.?

    Thanks again for your input.

    Much appreciated.

Hey man. I have had this happen to. Mine happens after I render my sequence. Video speeds up to exactly 150%. You need to go under the sequence tab, and go to settings. In there there is a section under render control for frame rate. Make sure that this is at 100%!!!!

I have had this problem for almost a year now and just figured out the solution tonight. This helped me, sounds like your problem may be a tid bit different but I think this may work.
