Video Rendering
Posted by Dada Kräuter on July 25, 2016 at 10:05 amHello, 🙂
I made a project in 4K resolution. I wanted to render it in 540p. Created a new composition(960×540) and scaled my project to 25% to fit everything in. When I render it in MP4, it takes same time as 4K. But final quality is really bad…
What does that mean? How can I fix that if that’s a problem?
Thanks!
Best regards,

With this setup, Ae is calculating the entire 4K frame, then scaling that down to 25%. If you want to render directly to 540p, add your 4K comp to the render queue. By default, Ae will set the render settings to Best Settings in the render queue. Click on Best Settings and set the resolution to Quarter. Be aware that this may impact the look of some effects.
What is your process for rendering to MP4? In what way does it look bad? Scaling down does mean throwing away a lot of detail, and some content is not well-suited for this.

“In what way does it look bad?”
It’s to much pixelated. But when I render one frame(JPEG) in 540p, it look good…
What does that mean?
Thanks again!

“It could mean that you are rendering at a very low bit rate.”
Target bitrate is set to 40.
Maximum bitrate is set to 50.So… :\
“It could also mean that you are judging the rendered animation while the viewer is paused.”
Sorry, but I don’t understand what do you mean. I leave it on render, then come back and watch rendered video… Nothing else.
Thanks again!

July 25, 2016 at 5:22 pmAdd 4k vid to render queue click “output Module”(where it usually says lossless), tick the resize and plugin your resolution. 50MBS should be just fine. Not sure how you are calculating your downscaling but here is a resolution calculator – https://bneijt.nl/pr/resolution-scale-calculator/.
Good luck.
