Hi Creative Cow! I am Marcus from Brasil.

I am making a short film in which there will be necessity for rodoscoping.
I tried to capture some footage from you tube using a freeware to record activity on the computer screen. The quality I’ve got wasn’t good, which is a problem when some figure in movement is far away. Also, whenever I try to play the file generated from this freeware in after effects, the play back shows frames overlapping and gaps between them. I think that is due to the file quality as well.
Is there only this way to record video referece (I NOT RECORDING MYSELF, BUT ANIMALS).
I had the idea of recording the monitor using a external device. If this idea is a good alternative, which kind of camera would you recommend ? Should I use a digital photo or camcorder?

    Regards.

Why don’t you contact the people who posted those clips and ask them if you can get a copy of the footage they posted. Without their permission you should not use it anyway.
