If I upload a video at native size (1280 x 720) and check “do not recompress” it appears at native size, throwing off the whole page layout.
Should we let COW recompress to get the small, medium and large sizes?
Likewise, if i embed the native video into a blog, it throws off the layout, naturally it does this due to its size.

Soon 1280 wide won’t be an issue. We are working right now on a new interface for this very reason. Hopefully we’ll have it completed in the next month or two. In the meantime you can either have CC re-compress or upload a smaller size. We do try to accommodate the 1280 wide sizes by allowing the video to float over the interface or auto-removing the right hand sidebar.

As Abraham said in his reply, we are working on a new interface that will be going live very shortly. It is an interface that we are going to be rolling out systematically, area by area. The first area to get it will be the my.creativecow.net sub-domain and then we will move to the reels.creativecow.net sub-domain.
But getting back to the 1280 videos, you can upload them now and while they may look odd sticking out beyond the edges of the current interface, they will fit quite nicely in the new interface — an interface that will support wider display areas.

I am trying to embed a video on this blog:
All I have been able to do it make it a link to the video.
If I paste the embed code, it appears as code of the url followed by a text link to the url
I left both intact for now so you can see what I mean
If you paste a YouTube link, it appears embedded
