  • Video Rate Too High?

Posted by Dave Simpson on October 27, 2005 at 12:22 am

    Hello,
I am in the middle of a large project and have run into a snag.
One of the segments I have rendered in after effects, seems to import,
but then shows up in the bin with a Video Rate too high error message.
I am using the same render and output settings as I have been:

Video Output Media 100, spatial Quality = Most (100)

Compression Type is Media 100 NTSC

    Depth Millions of colours +

    Quality Best

    Do lossless compression checked.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank You

In the Output Module under Format Options try setting a limit to your data rate. You might also try rendering as an Animation file. What does it say the data rate is in the M100 bin? What version of M100 do you have? I had this problem on my 7.0 system. I had to import at 200kb. Anything higher and I had problems. The problem may also be the bandwidth of your media drives. What are you using?

I’ve seen this too, especially on complex scenes.
One solution is to set the quality to a bit below half. The quality slider is non-linear, and you will still get a good picture.

Thanks for the response. I’m using Media 100 I 8.2, with Lacie Firewire drives.
I turned down the quality a bit and it imported okay. I guess that particular scene
did have a lot of very fine detail in it, so I’ll have to keep that in mind before I hit the render button.

    Thanks

You’re right. I did just that and it looks fine.

    Thank You
