I have a hopefully quick question. I do multi-camera shoots using Sony cameras (FX1, FX7 and HC1’s), when I watch my captured video before editing, looks great. After I do my editing and render back to the native format of my project AND original content files, the video is just not quite as good as the original. This just seems as, especially seeing that Vegas states “no recompression required” when rendering. I understand that the video I alter with Neat Video, Mercalli, color correction and the like will look different and perhaps not as crisp, but what gives on un-effected video streams that are NOT recompressed by Vegas…any insight. Native 1440×1080 60i is the format of the original files, project settings and output format..thanks for any insight!

If it says “no recompression required” then Vegas is just copying the source file to the target file. It should be bit-for-bit identical. You should not see any difference if you watch both on the exact same device. I would try a test on s small file and if you think there is a difference, contact Sony support and see what they say because there should be no difference.
