Is it just me? Or, am I missing something?

When I output an .avi file (uncompressed) from Premiere Pro 2.0 and compare it with the same .avi file as viewed in After Effects 7.0 pro, the After Effects monitor looks little bit more jagged and blurry?

I import the uncompressed .avi into AE as footage and drag it into the comp window to create a composition. Therefore, the comp settings are the same as the video:

    Video type: DV – NTSC
    Size: 720×480(0.90)
    fps: 29.97
    Millions of Colors

    Any ideas?

the video quality shouldnt be less …. maybe check a few things:

are you interpreting the footage correctly in AE. Right click on the footage in the project window and go “interpret footage” – make sure the field order is correct.

are you viewing the in Full quality in AE?

is Pixel Aspect Ratio Correction on in AE? If so, it will look a little pixelated…. check the manual if you’re not sure what this is

maybe as a test, do an uncompressed render out of AE and compare the two in Premiere …..

try these and if you’re still stuck post again with some more details …

    good luck

    Thank you duffbeer911,

I am looking at it in full quality. Pixel Aspect Ration Correction is off.

It seems to me that I am just noticing the difference in quality when the AE monitor is slightly larger than the Premiere monitor. Also, when you make the AE monitor an odd size (i.e. 81.67%) it is more pixelated.

    Thanks again,
