  • Video Preview on Mojo?

Hi all, I’m not sure if I should post this here or in the Avid forum, so I’ll try here first. I am working on an HP xw8200, Xeon 3.4 GHz, 2 GB, NVIDIA Quadro FX1400, Avid Xpress Pro HD v5.2.4 with a Mojo. I’d like to be able to preview my AE comps on the Mojo’s monitor, but just changing video display to mirror on 1394 and desktop doesn’t do it. I’m not sure if there are some Mojo settings somewhere. It seems to be plug-and-play, but as I say, I’m not sure.

    Thanks for the help,
    Travis Johnson

No, AFAIK Mojo never works. It’s no standard OHCI device and dependent on certain custom code and control mechanisms which are only active, when XPress is launched.

Avid doesn’t want you to use their snazzy hardware with other people’s software.

The thing is, its not that snazzy. I worked on a Media 100 844/x for years. Now that thing was snazzy, and it let Quicktime and AE use the breakout box. I should quit pining for that thing, but it was a heckuva machine.

I actually got it to work (sort of.) On Xpress HD 5.2.4 and AE 6.5.1, you have to install an Avid plug-in for AE called EMP, then find a file in the Avid directories called coreutilis.dll, copy that file into the AE/plug-ins/avid folder, re-boot and a new dialog appears in the preferences drop-down for Avid video preview. Amazing, not only does Avid allow AE to use the hardware, but they give you a roundabout way of doing it.
Now I’m trying it out on a Media Composer with AE 7, but with much more difficulty.
