  • Video Preview (IEEE 1394 Device) – Not Working

Posted by Mehawitchi on August 12, 2005 at 6:34 pm

I have AE 6.5 Pro on HP XW6200 (Dual 3.4 Xeon proc., 2GB RAM) with Nvidia FX 280 graphic card and ADS Pyro 64 firewire card.) OS: Win XP SP2

I cannot view my composition on external TV connected to a firewire device. The problem is mainly related to Win XP SP2. I had the same problem with AVID, but I was able to solve it by manually registering one of AVID’s DLLs file which handles the interface with the firewire device.

Could someone tell me which DLL file in AE is responsible on the firewire interface. or at least how to solve the above problem?

    Thanks,

    Hani

I think you have to go to After Effects preferences and set the video preview correctly.

Thanks for your reply. I believe I have set the video preference correctly, because it used to work on my old machine which had Win XP Home.

I’m almost certain the problem is related to Win XP SP2 because I had same problem with AVID Xpress Pro HD, and the problem was simply solved by manually registering one of Avid’s DLL files. I hope someone could tell me which DLL file in After Effects is responsible for managing the firewire port.

    Thanks again,

    Hani
