Video presentation. Best possible solution.
Hi there,
In the past when I have been doing multimedia presentations, I have recently started doing alot of the motion graphics in AE, and then I take it into flash to add sound and such. The video, which I export from AE, always loses quality in flash. Is there a better way to do this?
When the presentation runs, I do not want it to lag, as it normally runs from a laptop connected to a projector.
Can I export straight from AE, and skip flash? I am more comfortable in flash than AE, and still learning a lot. It’s just that you can do so much more with AE(motion graphic wise).
Any suggestions would be great.

Are you adding interactivity in Flash or in any other way using Flash’s strong points?
If not, not only is this step unnecessary, it is probably detrimental to your workflow.
AE is intended for video. Flash works with video fairly well, but that isn’t its strong suit.
You can certainly add audio in AE and render directly from it. You will also have more render options than Flash will offer you. -

thanks for the reply. I dont have much experience with render settings, but what would be the best codec to use? As I have said earlier, I do not want it to be laggy, so some compression would be necessary, would it not?Also, it would have to play full screen, so there should be no windows. What should the render settings be? Obviously they differ, but any nudge in the right direction would be appreciated.

I use Windows media video alot. I come VGA from my laptop to my HDTV or projector in your case. Media player can run full screen with no windows. I use this method with HD and it looks great. After Effects will render to this format with audio if you select it. There’s even a version for Mac if needed. Danny

Hi guys,
thanks for all the help so far. I have started with the project. My composition settings are 1024×768, this is the size of the laptop’s resolution. However, when rendering, After effects assigns it’s own resolution. Any workaround, or what am I doing wrong?

There are some codecs that accept only standard video resolutions, like the DV.
In the end, it doesn’t matter the laptop resolution, but the projector resolution.
Do some tests. Render your video and play it in a projector.

I do believe my options are quite limited then. Just a last quick question. Will the avi playback be better if I download the MPEG-4 codec, and where do I download it?
