video playbak with JAGGED EDGES
hi
i have taken a prores file (1920x1080i 60)and put it in compressor to converted to HDV with the same same parameters. when i play the HDV file the edges look jagged, especially when the picture is moving. dont know why.the prores file does not have this problem. what should i do to avoid this problem

You can’t have the same params.
HDV is 1440 instead of 1920…Perhaps something goes wrong there?

What you are seeing is the interlacing in quicktime. What is your final deliverable? Answering that question will let us help point you to a compression codec. HDV is not a codec that you use to deliver a master.

also be sure to check on a broadcast monitor, you could be seeing some interlacing relating to your computer monitor vs. broadcast…
