Video Playback Quality ‘High’ grayed out
I just switched a project over to a new more powerful machine but FCP’s performance is considerably less on the new machine and ‘High’under playback video quality is grayed out. Any ideas what could be going on? The configuration is a brand new Mac Pro Dual 3.2 Quad-Core Xeon with 8800GT and 8gig of ram (Two 4gig pieces). Could it be the memory configuration? It wont even play stretched SD without a big quality drop and will only play 1 stream of ProRes… my laptop is better…

Ok solved, its a memory problem, took out 2x 4gig sticks and put in 4x 1 gig sticks and ‘High’ is back and system working as it should. So less RAM is better, just wasted a lot of money…
