My video card, a PNY GeForce 7600 has a Dual-Link DVI, analog VGA, and S-Video/HDTV output on it. What I’d like to do is have a desktop spanned across two monitors, and have PPro put the Program Monitor on TV. However, I just realized that nVidia only allows 2 devices to be active at all times, be it two monitors or a monitor and TV out, so…is there some other way of getting PPro to still use both monitors, and output (through some other means perhaps) to S-Video? I keep hearing people say ‘output to firewire’. Anyone care to elaborate?

Your Nvidia card wont give you a nice preview to a TV like firewire. The firewire cable is typically plugged into either a camcorder (with analog out capability) or an analog/digital converter like the Canopus ADVC 110 or ADS Pyro A/V link. Then this device is plugged into your TV via composite or s/video. Premiere will give you a full screen preview of just the Program monitor.

Thanks Mike. I already suspected the video output on the card. Any particular reason why one would choose one brand over the other, Canopus versus ADS? (Personally, I’m only familiar with the Canopus brand.)

Choose the ADS if you are tight like me…it cost less and works for me.
