  • video out to monitor via firewire direct?

    no problems using vegas to play avi’s out to monitor (tv) etc.,

    however, is there;

    a. any software that will play avi’s out to monitor directly?
    (by that i mean, using media player or similar – using either firewire via vtr or dv
    camera to convert to analogue signal – but not having to have loaded nle
    program on computer to play it)

    b. output mpg’s (as above), using say, power dvd?

    this is to avoid having to load vegas or similar on a laptop to show to clients – in this particular instance, they have a HUGE screen in their boardroom (analogue input-i’ll take my dsr11 to transcode), and i want to be able to jump between various clips on the laptop, without first having to load them into any nle program….

    yes, i could use the s-vid out on my laptop, but the quality ia appaling…

    thanks

    [leslie wand] “a. any software that will play avi’s out to monitor directly?”

    Scenalyzer Live will do this via firewire. Technically so will Vegas Vidcap. The Capture program will accept AVI’s and send them out via firewire.

    Power DVD may do it via a video out on a video card but I don’t know of anything that will do it via firewire without converting it to DV first.

    many thanks edward.

    just tried with scenal. and it works fine – easier than loading vegas on the laptop.

    didn’t realise i could load vegas vid capture on its own. do i just need the vidcap50.exe?

    since the mpg’s are all from avi’s i’ll simply use them……

    again, thanks for your time,
