I have a Kona Card installed, and when I go to the Video Playback options, there is about 50 settings in the list that I will never use. Is there a way to selectivly pare that list down to the 5-6 that I would use?

    Thanks!

That would be nice wouldn’t it?

I would want that every where in fcp.

It’s really great that a new sequence at least prompts you
with the ability to choose format and framerate to pair
    that long list down.

I wish that were implemented everywhere.

But how would the engineers at AJA know which options you regularly use? Unless, your shop is located right next to them, it would be hard.

You can remove some setups yourself. Go to Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Custom Settings. You’ll find all of your easy setups there. Simply remove the ones that you don’t want (maybe after you make a backup of the folder, first!).

good points and I’m not sure you can remove the viewer settings (not all of them at least)
I thought about that too, (removing easy setups) but the rare time I do PAL work
or 1080P 24psf I’d have to blow the preferences or re-install to get them back
so I just leave them there.

as I said, if they implemented the framerate/format/codec drop downs like
a new project does and then limited your options to that, it might be
    a way to do that.

You guys are both thinking of the “Easy Setups” presets, to which I have already gone through and moved the ones that I don’t use.

I am speaking (typing, actually) of options under “Audio/Video Settings->Video Playback”

If you have a kona card installed, and you go to that list (option+apple+Q) it fills your screen with a list of every possible framerate and resolution in SD and HD that is a pain to scroll through to get to the right setting.

I didn’t expect AJA to telepathically read my mind and know what setups I use. That would be extremely difficult to get through my aluminium hat….

This is more of an annoyance of something that takes 2.3 seconds when it should take 1 second. As you might gather, I am a shortcut freak as well. Almost no one else in the office can use my machine because of the heavily modified keyboard shortcuts I have set up. Kinda nice, keeps everyone off my machine!

I emailed AJA support, so they should get back to me soon.

Sorry, Chris, was busy scribing my own diatribe whilst you were posting yours, so I didn’t get a chance to read it be I posted mine.

Yes, We’ll see what AJA has to say about it. Probably stored in some arcane folder packaged inside several application packages hidden in the system software somewheres so gents like me don’t go buggering around with it.

    Still searching, though..

And you don’t find this convenient? Next you’ll be saying that you don’t like paying your taxes!

Doesn’t choosing the correct easy setup change the output for you automagically? I only ever need to choose an easy setup – never have to bother with the output settings menu…

I mentioned that. I don’t think you can remove those.

No, as a matter of fact I don’t find it convenient to have to scroll through 30 options when I only use 2 or 3. I never edit in pal, 50, or 1080, so why should I make myself sort through them? I’m not telling any one to fix this for me, just tell me where they are stored so I can mess things up myself!

And, not to get too far off topic, I don’t think anyone actually LIKES paying taxes, I certainly don’t. Especially when they are being used to bail out a select few people that are the reason the economy is in the shape its in. I’d much rather hold onto my own money and donate to local charities that would take care of the things the feds are doing now, but much more efficiently.

And no, I’m not a democrat.

Found my answer in the Kona forum, turns out I was being a bit of a wanker, and didn’t know there was an update to the kona control panel. This allows some filtering of the output formats. So, I guess AJA DID read my mind, I just didnt know it yet…
