Video on DSLR looks different on my PC
I have a nikon D5200. Whenever I film it with it, it looks fine on the LCD screen. But when I look at the video on my PC, it looks far too bright or dark. Any reason for this? Anything I can do next time so I know better?

Are you doing any sort of processing on the video file captured by the camera before trying to play them or are you simply dragging the files off your capture card to your computer and playing them?

I’m just copying them from the SD card to my computer

Maybe your LCD brightness and/or your computer monitor brightness are off from one another.

I thought that at first too but then the results would be more consistent, the clips would always be either too dark or too bright, not vary from clip to clip as the original poster indicated

Make sure you have your exposure set correctly first off.
