I did a shoot yesterday and got three tapes out of it. when I started the capture process there was nothing on tapes. I was capturing strait from camera to g4 laptop mac. yes I did switch to VCR. when I pressed play all there was was the blue screen. there was time code.
Now I did see at one point a red circle with a line through it on the top left of screen when recording. What was that?

The camera was telling you that there was a head clog. YOu should have taken the time to clean the heads. Now you may try cleaning the heads ans it may be that the heads became dirty after you finished your recording. Wasn’t sure when you started to see the Red symbol mentioned above.

Update:
Well I took the tapes to my sony deck at work and everything was fine. Played back and was able to capture fine.
