A low light, high gain switch was mistakenly
activated on one of my cameras. The video is
high gain, very noisy. I am looking for a plugin
for FCP 7 to improve the quality. Have you used
    NEAT or something similar?

Neat, I hear, takes a lot of time to process a shot but looks good. Sheffield might also have something that works. I’ve not used either myself yet.

reviews i have found say Neat takes roughly
3x real time and the demo footage looks
    impressive

I’ve been quite happy with the Neat plug-in on FCP 7. I highly recommend you download the demo (which has some limitations) and try it on your footage and see if it does what you need.

I too recommend NEAT. But the render times are longer than 3x Realtime. I used it on a doc that was 90 min long…used it on about 30 min of footage. Took 17 hours to render. To be fair, the entire sequence took that long, titles and other plugins. But similar 90 min shows only took 2-3 hours to render.
